Lynn’s journey began in July 2018, when a devastating car accident left her leg and ankle shattered. Over the next two years, she underwent an exhausting 18 surgeries in an attempt to save her limb. Despite her strength and persistence, the infections kept returning—and the damage was severe.
It was then that Lynn faced one of the hardest decisions of her life: a below-the-knee amputation. Before the surgery, she met Romel Bhanti of Ortheco Prosthetics, who would become an important part of her recovery. His guidance helped Lynn feel supported even before she took her first step as an amputee.
Six months and one more surgery later, Lynn was finally ready to be casted for her first prosthetic leg. She remembers that day clearly:
“My first steps were with a walker, and I cried because I was walking.”

The journey back to mobility wasn't easy. Lynn had to relearn how to drive, and navigating her home—which included two flights of stairs just to reach the living floor—was no small task. Her first prosthesis didn’t fit quite right either; it extended two or three inches beyond her stump. But Romel was always there to help her make adjustments and work toward a better fit.
Since then, Lynn has used four different prosthetic legs, each one improving her comfort and function. She’s found the pin-lock system to be her favorite, giving her the secure fit she needs to stay active.
“Whenever I go in to see Romel, he’s always able to help me obtain a better adjustment and a better fit.”

And Lynn hasn’t let anything hold her back. She’s walked up and down ravines, crossed riverbeds, gone horseback riding, and even gone swimming. Her life is full, her determination unmatched—and her gratitude deep.
“I have a lot of support from family and friends throughout this whole process. And I’m grateful to Romel and Ortheco for providing me with the guidance, support, and prosthetics that I need.”

Today, Lynn stands tall—living proof that with the right care, the right attitude, and the right team, you can truly Rise Again.
